Class: People -Centered Copywriting

Crunchyroll

Project Brief: Choose a brand then research and create a reading list, personas and ad executions centering around a people centered module

This module was all about making ads to combat the stigma around ableism and empower a marginalized group.

The Brand:

The brand I chose for this was Crunchyroll. When researching and creating personas for this assignment I found that a lot of people with disabilities resonate with anime due to the diversity and range of characters. Most animes often don't shy away from showing characters with disabilities whether it's invisible or seen. The pulling factor comes with the themes of overcoming isolation, friendship and bravery with many anime characters and protagonists being resilient when faced with adversity.

Personas

My Personas Included: A retired veteran with a prosthetic, A high school student with Autism, and Librarian with down syndrome. With these personas in mind I created my Crunchyroll Ad Executions.

AD EXCECUTIONS

The idea behind the Ad Executions were to flip common words not often used to describe people with disabilities and apply them to popular anime characters that personify the meaning. This would come together for a collection of titles under the Crunchy role umbrella called the "Embracing Differences Collection". The words I chose were Grit, Ingenuity, and Tenacity with the characters being Edward Elrich, Maki Zenin, and Rock Lee.
